ride green / green ride. friday sept. 19 s.f. ca.

For Immediate Release – Installation Announcement

“RIDE GREEN/GREEN RIDE”

WHEN: Friday, September 19th, 2008

OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, September 19th, 2008. Only one day, all day with opening reception scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00p.m.

WHAT: Reaves Gallery, a participant of Rebar’s PARK(ing) Day presents “Ride Green/Green Ride” by local artists Lucky Rapp and Matthew McKee.

The “Ride Green/Green Ride” installation will utilize recycled bikes accumulated primarily through donation. The home PARK(ing) base located outside of Reaves Gallery will house 40 bikes versus one car: more road, less resources. In addition, satellite bikes will be posted at Huf, Mac and assorted other locations throughout Hayes Valley and the Civic Center area with a total of 77 bicycles.

Lucky and Matthew are both heavily influenced by bike culture and see bikes as a key alternative to the salvation of urban resources. It is about movement, both literal and visual, with the intent to inspire viewers to THINK green and conserve resources as we move towards the future. “If everyone in the US who lives within 5 miles of work bicycle-commuted just once a week, we could eliminate 5 million tons of CO2 emissions.” courtesy of Fat Tire Beer calendar found on street.

WHO: Installation concept and implementation created by Lucky Rapp and Matthew McKee as sponsored by Reaves Gallery. Donors include Box Dog, Pedal Revolution, Bike Hut, Stanford University, and others.

WHERE: Reaves Gallery: 235 Gough Street at Oak, SF, CA 94102

RELOCATING TO CENTRAL AMERICA

TIMELINE

• Cameron leaves SFO for Cancun August 21 and makes his way south to Panama over about 3 weeks.

Mission: Experience Central America with a focus on Belize and Panama, searching for 3 kinds of locations.

1. Potential land to purchase for future site of eco lodge.

(e.g. Empty garage near tourist hub becomes cafe / lounge.)

3. Potential area for Cameron, Matthew, and possibly Brad to live in while financial means are secured by San Francisco Team.
(e.g. A pleasant beach side town with opportunities for english teachers.)
